Freak defender hurt in 'Wolves accident'
 |
Paul Butler of Wolverhampton Wanderers broke both legs in a freak accident at his Witton home today, and has been pulled from the Irish women's squad
scheduled to face the Finnish women's team on Saturday.
As was reported by Reuters, Butler was leaning over to pick up his TV remote when he broke both legs.

BUTLER: Accident happened
near his recliner |

The ambulance
crew were there in 2 minutes but got lost on the way to the
Birmingham General Hospital.
Later one of the
ambulance crew later confessed, "Sure, we missed a turn, but
it was awful hearing Butler's agonising screams when we stopped to
check the map just outside Bognor Regis, Croydon, |

Norwich,
Pwllheli, Darlington, Perth and Ripon."
Paul Butler was
signed from Sunderland in 2000 for a fee of 1 million, and prior
to that he was on loan to the
Club who should have known better.
He quickly
bullied his way to new club captain and went on to
establish himself as the sap
of the defence, scoring some lucky
goals along the way as Wolves steamrolled towards what the
Club thought
was promotion,
but as we all know
that failed thanks to Steve Bruce.
Last season
Butler took
some stick,
and with being booed off at home Reading he lost his captains arm band,
and along with that his first
team place.
Wolves were stuck with him though.
Press reports talked
about him sobbing
over the
situation,
but until this
accident he was back commanding a regular first team place.

This appears to have been a terrible freak accident

Wolves manager Dave Jones likened the
accident to some sort of voodoo. "Apparently when you nail Dugarry
you've got to expect things to start going terribly wrong in your
life." "Me, I'd stay home for the rest of the season and
re-join the squad when we're preparing for the Nationwide next
May." |
